04/12/2023Central Coast Council offices will be closed over the Christmas and New Year holiday period from Monday, 25 December 2023 to Monday 1 January 2024, and re-opening Tuesday 2 January 2024.
Some of Council’s services and facilities will be closed or have changes, however essential services will continue to operate.
Customer service and reporting of issues
- All Customer Service Centres will be closed.
- Urgent reports - We have an out-of-hours service available on 02 4306 7900 to call in any urgent reports such as water main breaks, sewer issues or urgent road safety issues (such as fallen trees over roads).
- Non-urgent - Customers can contact Council with non-emergency enquiries, requests, reporting issues or formal feedback 24/7 through our online Customer Service Centre. These will be progressed by our Customer Service Team from Tuesday 2 January, during business hours.
Animal care facilities / dogs
- Council’s Animal Care Facilities at Charmhaven and Erina will be open each day from 8am-11am during the Christmas closure period, including all public holidays and Sundays. Council’s Animal Care Facilities will accept stray/lost animals and allow owners to collect their animals (fees may apply).
- If you witness a dog attack or are attacked by a dog, please report it to Council as soon as possible on 02 4306 7900, or call 000 if emergency services are required.
- If you see a roaming or unleashed dog report it to Council on 02 4306 7900. If safe to do so, you can take roaming, unleashed or lost dogs back to its owner, if known, or to the nearest vet to be scanned for a microchip in an attempt to identify the owner. If the dog's ownership cannot be established, the dog is required to be taken to one of Council's Animal Care Facilities. If your own dog or cat is lost you can report it to Council on 02 4306 7900

Airport
- Central Coast Airport at Warnervale remains open.

Beaches
- The 15 Central Coast patrolled beaches will be patrolled each day (including public holidays).
- Normal patrol operational hours are 9am – 6pm, except for Umina Beach, Avoca Beach and Terrigal Beach, which are patrolled 8am – 6pm.
- In addition, Budgewoi Beach is also patrolled throughout the summer holiday period, from 9am – 6pm daily.

Cemeteries
- Cemeteries and gardens will be open to visitors during daylight hours every day for visitation.
Community centres and halls
- Closed on public holidays during the Christmas period, however groups with bookings will have self-access during this time.

Early Childhood Education and Care Centres
- All Centres will be closed on Friday 22 December 2023 and will re-open to families on Tuesday 9 January 2024. This has been communicated to all families.

Grant McBride Baths
- Grant McBride Baths at The Entrance will be open and patrolled throughout the Christmas holiday period including public holidays. The facility may be temporarily closed due to any cleaning schedules.

Gallery
- Gosford Regional Gallery, including the café and Edogawa Commemorative Garden, will be open with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Holiday parks and camping grounds
- Central Coast Council Holiday Parks will be open.

Laycock Street Theatre
- Laycock Street Community Theatre will be closed over the Christmas and New Year period.

Leisure centres, gyms and pools
- All leisure centres, gyms and pools will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
- Operating hours, varies per centre and activity during the Christmas holiday period.
- Peninsula Leisure Centre, Gosford Olympic Pool, Toukley Aquatic Centre, Wyong Olympic Pool - open 10am-4pm New Years Day.
- Lake Haven Recreation Centre – Closed New Years Day.
- Peninsula Leisure Centre, Gosford Olympic Pool, Toukley Aquatic Centre, Wyong Olympic Pool and Lake Haven Recreation Centre operating on adjusted hours from 17 December to 1 January, see each facility web page for more information.
- Niagara Park Stadium closed Saturday 23 December – Monday 1 January.
- 24-hour gym access is available at Peninsula Leisure Centre and Lake Haven Recreation Centre with appropriate access tag.

Libraries
- All libraries will closed from close of business Friday 22 December and will reopen at 9am on Tuesday 2 January.
- All after hours chutes will be open over this time.
- Bateau Bay, Kariong, and Toukley Libraries will be available to customers inducted for Library@YourTime.
- Library Reservation Lockers will be accessible at Erina, Tuggerah, and Umina Beach libraries as well as Wyong Service Centre.
- A new Library Reservation Locker will be accessible at 42 Marine Pde, The Entrance.

Parks, reserves and playspaces and public toilets
- Litter collection will continue at beaches, parks, reserves and playspaces, and sportsgrounds along with the cleaning of Council’s outdoor electric BBQs. Priority maintenance tasks will be carried out, and safety issues will be attended to.
- Public toilet facilities will be open normal hours with regular cleaning services continuing.
Roads
- Urgent road maintenance or safety issues should be reported to Council by phoning 02 4306 7900, which will immediately go through to our out-of-hours officer to be assessed and responded to.
- Non-emergency enquiries, requests, reporting issues or formal feedback can be made 24/7 through our online Customer Service Centre, which will be progressed from Monday 4 December.

Waste services and facilities
- All residential waste collection services continue as normal on public holidays and during Council closures. Visit 1coast.com.au for more information, to report missed services, book bulk pickups and more.
- Woy Woy and Buttonderry Waste Management Facilities will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Open Boxing Day with public holiday hours of operation of 8am-4pm.

Water and sewer
- Any water service interruptions are listed on Council’s website.
- Urgent water or sewer issues (such as a spill, leak, bubbling water, water decolourisation or no water pressure) should be reported to Council by phoning 4306 7900 immediately so we can assess and respond as soon as possible.

Visitor information Centre, The Entrance
- The Central Coast Visitor Centre, located at The Entrance will be closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

PLEASE NOTE: TEMPORARY CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACTS 12 DECEMBER
In addition to the Christmas closure period, Council’s customer service centres will have service interruptions on Tuesday 12 December.
Council’s Customer Service will be participating in a half day training opportunity to further improve our service, which will temporarily impact customer service hours for this day as follows:
- Council Customer Service Centres – On Tuesday 12 December Erina location will be closed all day on 12 Dec, Wyong Administration Building service counter will be closed from 12.30pm, and Gosford and Woy Woy will close at 12pm.
- Customer service telephone service (02 4306 7900) – From 12.30pm, Tuesday 12 December until 8.30am Wednesday 13 December all calls will be answered by our after-hours service to progress urgent matters.
