Illegal dumping of waste is a significant problem socially, financially and environmentally. Your help in reporting it helps to ensure a safer and cleaner environment for all.
In an effort to ensure a safer and cleaner environment for all, our Ranger Services team investigate illegal dumping, littering and kerbside waste. Offences can incur significant fines and on the spot penalty notices.
Report illegal dumping
Central Coast Council works with the Hunter-Central Coast Regional Illegal Dumping (RID) Squad to identify dumpers. The RID Squad is a joint program between the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and local Councils.

Incidents of illegal dumping can also be reported to Central Coast Council on 02 4306 7900.
If you observe someone illegally dumping, please take down the following information:
- date, time and location of incident
- description of vehicle and license plate number
- description of person(s) dumping
- what items were being dumped
Materials deposited on the kerbside without a booking for pickup or where there are no remaining entitlements leaves our environment looking unsightly. It can also cause pollution, as material may break down or be washed away. It is the resident’s responsibility to either book a kerbside collection prior to putting waste on the kerbside or make arrangements for the removal of waste where there are no remaining entitlements.
Where a property is tenanted and tenants move out, real estate agents or land owners must ensure waste has been booked in for collection or arrangements have been made for it to be removed. Failure to comply with kerbside requirements or remove waste from the kerbside when directed may result in significant fines of up to $5000. Residents are also reminded not to put out items for collection more than 24 hours in advance, as waste on the kerbside often attracts dumping and could impact on the waste collection entitlements for the property.
