Popular carpark upgraded to improve access to waterways
Council has upgraded the Chain Valley Bay boat ramp carpark  to provide safer and easier access to the waterways of Lake Macquarie for boating and fishing enthusiasts. The works in Mulloway Reserve included the construction of a new sealed carpark with formal line marking and signage to accommodate 12 car and 12 car and trailer parking spaces – including accessible parking and new pavement for improved accessibility, turning and approach bay, perimeter fencing and a derigging area.

Tuggerah Lakes Lakeside sand nourishment and maintenance works
Council is undertaking sand nourishment works at several sand recreation foreshore areas in June. These works will replace the sand washed away during the recent lake rises and extended periods of intense rainfall, and will maintain the amenity of the area for public use and enjoyment.

Make learning to drive a safe, positive experience
We are determined to help parents and supervisors with the challenging task of teaching learner drivers, to help make the experience of learning to drive a safe, positive experience for all.For the second time this year, you can join in one of our free workshops at Tuggerah, Erina or Woy Woy libraries in November and receive practical advice on current driving rules and requirements for L and P plate drivers, understand how learners benefit from supervised on-road driving, and be informed on how to encourage positive outcomes through teaching learner drivers.We are delighted to be offering three additional workshops in November, after a positive community response to the two workshops offered earlier this year. The free workshops are designed to provide hands-on support to parents and supervisors of learner drivers and are designed to help in explaining highly complex road rules and other important information.Young drivers are overrepresented in NSW crashes.

Library service disruptions due to maintenance
Toukley, Tuggerah, Kincumber, Lake Haven, Woy Woy and Bateau Bay libraries are undergoing maintenance and improvement works which require temporary closures at various times in May and June.

All female come-and-try sport sessions
We've teamed up with the Office of Sport to develop a low-cost multi-sport program for females (High School aged and over) at Peninsula Leisure Centre, Woy Woy.Come and Try up to six different sports over six weeks in a non-competitive, social environment. Choose from Group Fitness, Netball, Basketball, Water Polo, Floorball and Volleyball or try all if you’d like to see what you enjoy most. Sessions begin Sunday mornings from the 8 May – 12 June and cost just $5 to participate, including morning tea.Grab your daughter, grab your Mum, grab your girlfriends and make it a fun and healthy way to catch up.Register now to get active, try new sports and have fun!  View session dates, times and details and register now

191 tonnes of waste stopped from entering waterways by Gross Pollutant Traps 
Council has removed over 191 tonnes of waste from Gross Pollutant Traps in March and April following consistent heavy rainfall- stopping litter, dirt, sediment, and other pollutants from entering the Central Coast waterways with stormwater.Once the region experiences a longer period of clear weather, the conditions will be suitable for Council to program the collection and disposal of waste from other Gross Pollutant Traps yet to be serviced. Council has 339 gross pollutant traps installed at key locations across the coast – both below and above ground.
