THE ENTRANCE CHANNEL - Our crews have continued to work on the pilot channel opening at The Entrance. The Entrance Channel is currently open and water continues to flow out of the lake, with influences from additional rain and tide conditions. We will continue to monitor conditions of the channel and all coastal lagoons and waterways across the Central Coast and intervene when appropriate. https://www.centralcoast.nsw.gov.au/environment/coastlines/estuaries-lagoons-and-wetlands/tuggerah-lakes-estuary
🏊 Avoid swimming and any other recreational activities within our waterways during, and for a few days after, significant rainfall – due to increased risk of pollution in our waterways from storm water run-off, and debris or large submerged objects in the water that can cause illness or injury. ROAD CLOSURE - Lakedge Ave is currently closed from Chittaway Rd (Chittaway Bay) to Bluebell Ave (Berkeley Vale) due to rise in lake water level impacting on the road. Please follow signage and avoid driving through water on residential road as it can push water into homes.
- Please take care on wet roads, slow down and avoid areas with flooding or water over the road if possible. Driving through flood water is dangerous, can push water into houses in residential streets and may also void your car insurance.
- For road closure or works impacting traffic, refer to Traffic NSW (www.livetraffic.com, download the app, or call 132 701), or visit Council’s road closure web page (updated during business hours, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm).
- Potholes - Continuous rainfall and flooding results in potholes appearing and crews are on the ground patching as many potholes as possible. Only temporary repairs can be undertaken during wet weather. Repairs are being prioritised by level of safety risk, with high-speed arterial roads and higher traffic roads requiring attention first. Please continue to report potholes to Council via our online Customer Service Centre, or call Council on 4306 7900, and we’ll continue to assess and schedule repairs.
WASTE
- Weekly kerbside bin collections continue as normal. For properties located on sections of road currently closed to vehicles, kerbside services will resume as soon as the roads re-open and residents should keep their bins on the kerbside (if safe to do so) until they are collected.
- Book a bulk kerbside collection through 1Coast.com.au, or dispose of bulk waste directly at Council’s two waste management facilities (fees apply) at Woy Woy or Jilliby.
