Council’s Planning Proposal in respect of land at 73-75 Mann St Gosford was publicly exhibited from 2 February to 2 March 2023.

A Housing Forum organised by Central Coast Council on 27 April 2023, challenged all stakeholders involved in housing on the Central Coast to work together in genuine collaboration and consultation to try to solve the housing crisis facing this region.  Community members, developers, not-for-profit housing providers, government agencies, Members of Parliament and Council representatives all came together to discuss the current housing situation on the Central Coast, including Council’s draft Local Housing Strategy, which is open for consultation until 3 May 2023.Council Administrator Rik Hart said the Central Coast is currently home to some 348,000 residents. “It is projected that our population will increase to over 404,000 people by 2041 – that’s another 55,000 people, or 2,800 people every year. “To house these people, the government’s Central Coast Regional Plan 2041 anticipates we will require an additional 32,550 dwellings.”The Forum participants discussed a range of issues and potential solutions, but key themes and sticking points were:The Central Coast is vast and travel times are long, we need better infrastructure to support population growth.All three tiers of government – federal, state and local - need to work together. The type of housing that is currently being built is not reflecting the changing needs of the community, particularly for young and older people.

In the last three months we have:✔️ repaired over 25,000 potholes✔️undertaken over 24,000m2 of heavy patching (section repairs) – that’s equivalent to almost 20 Olympic sized swimming pools✔️graded over 110 km of unsealed roads🚧 Road works continue this week to fill potholes (temporary repairs to reduce safety hazards) and longer-term road repairs which help prevent potholes from occurring, including heavy patching (section repairs) or road renewals (whole road rehabilitation):This week, some of the road work being undertaken includes:👷‍♀️ Tuggerawong, Tuggerawong Rd (road renewal) 👷 Kulnura, George Downes Drive (heavy patching)👷‍♂️Lower Mangrove, Popran Road, (unsealed road grading)👷‍♂️ Mangrove Mountain, Wisemans Ferry Road (heavy patching)👷‍♀️ Umina, Sydney Ave (road renewal) 👷 Gorokan (potholes) 👷‍♂️  Killarney Vale (potholes) 👷‍♀️ Lemon Tree (potholes)👷‍♂️ Point Clare, Tascott, Koolewong (potholes) 👷‍♂️ Saratoga, Davistown (potholes) 👷‍♀️Mangrove Mountain area (potholes)👷‍♀️ Dooralong (potholes)🤔 It’s easy to assume someone has already reported a pothole but that may not be the case.☎️ Please report potholes or specific maintenance or safety concerns to Council, through our online Customer Service Centre, or by calling 4306 7900 during business hours.

The rare international visitors who choose to breed at The Entrance North each year have begun their flight back home to South-east Asia.Hundreds of the endangered Little Terns arrived in early October from South-east Asia (breeding birds) and Japan (non-breeding birds) and the bright-billed breeding birds wasted no time in pairing up and laying eggs on the sand at Karagi Point, The Entrance North.After a record-breaking number of fledglings last season, expectations were high for the 2022/23 Little Tern breeding season.Central Coast Council staff were well prepared for the arrival of the birds and were busy in the off-season carrying out fox control, installing signage, planning educational activities, and installing a protective fence.

Want to develop news skills, confidence and help accelerate the customer service experience for visitors and locals looking for things to do and see across our beautiful region?Central Coast Council is calling for expressions of interest (EOI) from local community members interested in becoming a Visitor Service Volunteer Ambassador at the recently revitalised Visitor Information Centre, The Entrance.The volunteer role has been developed to support staff in the new Central Coast Visitor Centre and will assist with providing information on the Coast and surrounds to visitors and the local community - enticing visitors to explore more and stay longer in the region as well as encouraging local residents to explore their own backyard.Interested volunteers should bring a unique and positive outlook of the Central Coast and have a good understanding of all there is to do and see across the region.By becoming a volunteer, you will develop new skills and gain experience, build confidence, and increase social interaction and community engagement.Candidates with previous customer service and basic computer skills are preferred, and the ability to work across the week and/or weekends with a fun and reliable team.We’re seeking residents aged 18 years and over who have lived on the Central Coast for at least 12 months.Find out more by downloading the Volunteer Role description here.If this sounds like you, email your EOI to brooke.longford@centralcoast.nsw.gov.au
