Central Coast Council was alerted to a burst water main at Hillcrest Road, Empire Bay at approximately 3pm on Monday 18 February 2019.

Customers across Empire Bay and Davistown were impacted by the break as it was a large main servicing both suburbs. Subsequent water main breaks in the area also impacted customers in Saratoga.

Several Council teams were immediately sent to site and work was undertaken throughout the night to restore water to all affected properties.

Water was restored to Empire Bay residents at approximately 7am, Saratoga residents at approximately 11am and Davistown residents at approximately 12pm on Tuesday 19 February.

Council’s case manager was on site last night and this morning to work with affected residents.

Council works to resolve water outages as quickly as possible and apologises for any inconvenience caused when outages do occur.

Water main breaks will periodically occur across all water systems and are typically caused by ground and weather conditions, tree roots and third party damage.

Council is currently rolling out a $15million water mains renewal program across the Central Coast. In the 2018-19 and the 2019-20 financial years Council will invest approximately $10million across a range of suburbs including Empire Bay, Davistown and Saratoga.

Council prioritises its renewal program based on a number of factors including analysis of the number of water main breaks.

Central Coast residents who experience water or sewerage concerns in their area should call Council immediately on 1300 463 954.
