Emergency remediation works are continuing at Wamberal and North Entrance this weekend.

At Wamberal, 180 rock bags (weighing two tonnes each) have been installed using a crane. An additional 600 tonnes of rock have been placed at other priority sites in Wamberal.

At North Entrance 200 tonnes has arrived on site and is being installed in the priority area. A pozitrack that can operate during higher tides is being used to assist the dump trucks with the movement and placement of rocks.

Works at both sites are focussed on stabilising the base of the escarpment.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid Ocean View Drive, Wamberal and utilise alternate routes such as Willoughby Road. Over the weekend, truck movements will be predominantly on Ocean View Drive easing traffic movements on the adjacent local roads.

Wamberal Beach remains closed in front of affected properties and Wamberal Surf Club carpark is being used as a works compound.

Wamberal Surf Club Café and surrounding businesses not in the affected areas can still be accessed via detours.

Emergency works are in response to expert coastal engineering advice and the Local Emergency Operational Controller directive.

Weather and beach conditions are being monitored carefully and Council will continue to work together with residents and the State Government to manage coastal erosion at Wamberal Beach and North Entrance.
