In a show of support from Central Coast Council, Central Coast Stadium will be the finishing line for the fourth year in a row for the annual Bay to Bay Running Festival.

The festival – being held this year on Sunday 17 June – is a 12km fun run and a 21km half-marathon, both starting from the Woy Woy waterfront and finishing at the Stadium in Gosford. There is also a 3km kids’ fun run for children aged 7-12; a loop that starts and finishes inside the Stadium, traversing the Gosford foreshore in the middle.

Council Acting Director Assets, Infrastructure and Business, Boris Bolgoff says that it is only fitting that Council support this popular community event, by opening up the Stadium.

“The Stadium has the capacity to host major recreational events – and the Bay to Bay Running Festival is no exception, as it will see over 2,000 people cross the finish-line on the field of this iconic Central Coast asset,” Mr Bolgoff said.

“The Stadium belongs to the community of the Central Coast. It is a people’s place – a place for the community to come together and celebrate.”

“With the stunning backdrop of Brisbane Water, the Stadium really is the perfect place for the finish line of this charitable event.”

Mayor Jane Smith says that it is important for Council to support local events that improve the physical and social wellbeing of the Central Coast community.

“The Bay to Bay Running Festival is a great way for the community to come together and raise some much-needed funds for local charities in a healthy, fun-filled and family-friendly environment,” says Mayor Smith.

“Last year’s event raised a record-breaking $70,000 – it would be great to see the community band together to try and match this sensational figure again this year.”

For those who purchased their tickets before 7 June the runner’s bibs will be mailed out before the race at no extra charge. All other participants will need to collect their race bibs on Saturday 16 June at Central Coast Stadium from 2pm-4pm, or in Woy Woy on race day.

Free train transport will be provided by Transport NSW – on production of a race bib – so there is no need to carry an Opal card or search for change on the day of the race.

The Bay to Bay Running Festival is a charity fundraising event and is organised by the Terrigal Trotters.
