Council endorses exhibition of draft Plan of Management

Central Coast Council has endorsed its proposed Plan of Management for (POM) Council community land.

The resolution at Tuesday’s Ordinary Council Meeting will see the draft plan publicly exhibited until Friday 17 February 2023, with the community invited to make submissions until Tuesday 21 February.

Community land is Council owned land that cannot be sold. There are nearly 2400 parcels of community land in the Central Coast local government area.

The Plan of Management sets out how community land can be used, including whether parts of the lan

d can be leased or licensed to community groups for activities like community sports, social clubs, educational activities and community health initiatives. Some community land is used for commercial activities such as food and beverage outlets in parks and at beaches.
Council Director Environment and Planning Alice Howe said the draft Plan of Management is significant for the future management of community land owned by Council.

“The plan replaces more than 20 separate plans of management prepared by the former Gosford and Wyong councils, some of which date back nearly 30 years.

“There will be a consistent approach to community land included in the new plan   once community feedback has been reviewed and the new plan has been adopted,” Dr Howe said.

Council Administrator Rik Hart is encouraging the community to review the plans on Council’s website and to have their say through the submission process.

“Many parcels of community land are being covered by a plan for the first time, and some parcels of land have been recategorised to better reflect how they are being used,” Mr Hart said.

“To assist community members to make submissions about the draft Plan of Management, a pre-formatted submission form has been prepared.

“We will also be hosting public hearings at town centres early next year.”
