Central Coast Council continues to take precautions in response to the rapidly evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation guided by State and Federal health departments’ advice.

In addition to the changes to Council services announced yesterday, these are more changes as at 19 March:

  • Postponement of some programs and activities at the Leisure Centres and Pools until 30 April, including all learn to swim programs delivered by our instructors in the water; all indoor sports competitions; seniors fitness programs; creche services and small or large group bookings.
  • Alteration of some programs and activities at the Leisure Centres and Pools until 30 April to put social distancing measures in place. This includes capacity limits on recreational swimming and aqua fitness; changes to how squad, transition and dolphin swimming programs are delivered; gym usage – no fitness assessments or personal training provided; group fitness classes – moved to larger rooms and some program changes including yoga/pilates classes require own mat and no boxing classes delivered. Casual sports courts and squash usage continue.
  • Relaxing truck delivery times to support supply deliveries and relaxing outdoor dining requirements for those without a permit so they can set up without Council being heavy handed in regulating.

Chief Executive Officer, Gary Murphy said Council’s priority is the health of staff and the Central Coast community and continuing to deliver essential services. However, interruptions to some non-essential Council services were inevitable as the situation changes.

“Our job right now is ensuring we play our part in managing as best we can the spread of Coronavirus, and ensuring safety of staff and the general public,” Mr Murphy said.

“Increased cleaning services are in place across facilities open to the public and notification to community about health information is available at all venues.

“We have work continuity plans in place for our workforce including restrictions to working to one workplace, limited face-to-face meetings, remote working from home capability and ability to scale down some service areas as required due to staff unavailability,” Mr Murphy said.

“Cleanliness and hygiene measures are being strictly enforced at all Council facilities and regular notification to the community about health information.

“All programs, activities and services will be continually monitored and changes implemented as necessary,” said Mr Murphy.
