Central Coast Council will celebrate Australia Day across the Central Coast with free family-friendly events at The Entrance and Woy Woy on Friday 26 January.

Memorial Park at The Entrance will be a hive of free activities along the popular waterfront from 12pm including live entertainment from headline act, Ash Grunwald. The annual ice cream eating competition is back as well as amusement rides and a diverse array of popular lawn games with giant jenga, beach volleyball and more.

While in Woy Woy, the waterfront will come alive from 2pm with an astonishing array of boats gliding down the channel. There will also be free activities, live entertainment and market stalls as well as the annual lantern parade from the CWA Hall to Memorial Park.

Both events will be capped off with a spectacular fireworks display.

In addition to these great community events, Council will be announcing the Central Coast Citizen of the Year at a special awards ceremony on Thursday 25 January.

More than 60 finalists will be vying for the honour spanning across seven categories designed to showcase locals who have shown outstanding dedication to their community, workplace, arts, culture or sport.

The annual celebrations will continue as more than 150 residents will become naturalised on Australia Day at the Citizenship Ceremony. Hailing from more than 40 countries across the world, the Central Coast’s newest citizens will celebrate in an official ceremony with their family and friends.
