21/10/2025Saia Latu is an inspiration. He’s the kind of person who thinks of others before himself and is committed to supporting people in our community who are doing it tough.
He’s also inspired a team of volunteers to give their time to serve others.
Saia is the force behind Safelink Alliance Inc, now a registered charity, with a mission to relieve poverty, distress and disadvantage by creating spaces and programs of care, connection and dignity.
One of Safelink’s popular community initiatives is the Monday Night Service, where people are welcomed into a safe, inclusive space to share a free community meal, friendship, and connection.
Saia and the Safelink volunteers work with sponsors to ensure everyone enjoys a meal and can connect with others.
Volunteers and ‘community angels’ often contribute other essentials to Monday nights, like warm clothes, books and groceries. These go to supporting people experiencing financial hardship, social isolation, homelessness, or other life challenges.
Saia loves being around people and listening to their stories. One of his mottos is ‘Together We Rise’, and he truly achieves this through his actions.
He described Safelink Alliance’s registration as a nationally recognised Australian charity as more than a legal milestone - he sees it’s as a commitment to serve with integrity, reach further, and make a tangible difference.
Our Central Coast Community Champion initiative honours people who, through exceptional effort and commitment, make a difference to the lives of others.
I’m sure you’ll agree that Saia is a very worthy Community Champion, and he has our gratitude and appreciation.
