01/07/2025You’re invited to celebrate NAIDOC Week with us at our annual flag raising ceremony and free community breakfast from 9.30am on Monday 7 July, outside Council at 2 Hely St, Wyong.
NAIDOC Week runs from 6 to 13 July and 2025 marks the significant milestone of 50 years honouring and elevating Indigenous voices, culture, and resilience. The important week acknowledges the history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and encourages a society where the wisdom and contributions of Indigenous peoples are valued and respected.
This year's theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy, celebrates the achievements of the past and the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the legacy of our ancestors.
Gathering as a community provides an important opportunity for us to pause, reflect and celebrate.
We’ll also be hosting NAIDOC-themed activities at our libraries, including scratch art, basket craft, coding and storytelling during the July school holidays. Bookings are now open online.
The Central Coast is home to one of the largest First Nations populations in Australia, and we share a rich history and a vibrant future.
I encourage everyone to join us at our NAIDOC Week flag-raising ceremony and breakfast as we celebrate together as a community.
