⚠️ WEATHER ALERT: HEAVY RAIN FORECAST ⚠️
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast heavy rain to develop on the Central Coast from Saturday with up to 60mm and Sunday with up to 120mm that will carry into Monday with hazardous surf warnings that include the Central Coast.

🌊 WATERWAYS
• Avoid swimming and any other recreational contact with the Coast’s waterways during (and for a few days after) significant rainfall due to increased risk of pollution from stormwater run-off and large submerged objects washed into waterways that could potentially cause injury.
 • Council has been monitoring the condition of The Entrance Channel and planning response in accordance with pre developed procedures. Given the current condition of the channel and that there is currently no expectation of the level of Tuggerah Lake reaching the Moderate Flood Level no immediate channel intervention is proposed. Council is placing crews and heavy machinery on standby should forecast rainfall conditions and lake levels increase through the weekend. If conditions change to the extent that the lake level is expected to reach the Moderate Flood Level, berm management activities will be undertaken with the intent of removing sand from the southern extent of the Karagi Sandspit.  The Entrance Channel is a dynamic coastal environment influenced by both catchment and coastal processes. This proposed approach has been made in accordance with advice provided by various state government agencies and industry bodies with expertise and experience in coastal and floodplain management.
• Residents along the Hawkesbury River system from Wisemans Ferry to Wendoree Park and Lower Mangrove should familiarise themselves with the local forecast high tide levels for the next week, as the combination of high tide and higher than normal river level may affect road access for short periods. 🚗 ROADS:
• With the forecast of significant rain this weekend, please take care on the roads. Heavy rainfall may result in flash flooding and or debris over roads.

• As at 30 June 2022, Mangrove Creek Dam is 90.5% full.  Based on the current rainfall forecasts from the Bureau of Meteorology and current catchment moisture levels, overflow from the dam in the coming days is considered unlikely. The Bureau’s forecasts are subject to change and Council continues to monitor the situation.

 ✔️SANDBAGS:
• Sandbags are available from NSW SES Gosford Unit (Pateman Rd Erina).  Sand and empty sandbags are available from NSW SES Wyong Unit (Levitt St Wyong) and Chittaway Point (Sunshine Reserve) - please bring a shovel.
