Skate park temporary closures for maintenance works

A series of Skate Park maintenance works are rolling out across six Central Coast skate parks – BATO Yard (Bateau Bay), Wadalba Skate Park, Picnic Point Skate Park (the Entrance), Banjo’s (Terrigal), Narara Skate Park, and Kariong Skate Park. 

These essential works will ensure that these community sporting facilities are kept to a safe standard and will help prolong their life, so they can be enjoyed for many years to come. 

The works are scheduled to run progressively from May through to July (weather permitting) and require short term temporary closures once the work commences at each site.

BATO Yard, Bateau Bay Skate Park

Timing: Skate park works are now complete and its open for play. Basketball court maintenance works with temporary closure continues until the end of June (pending weather)
Impacts: The perimeter of the skate park, including the basketball court, is fenced off and temporarily closed until works are complete. 
Works include: 
•    Replace basketball damaged hoop and install chain or rope net
•    Basketball crack repair
•    Cut out and replace caulking
•    Repaint base and redo basketball line marking also repaint around seating area
•    Cut out and replace grouting at granite coping tiles with coloured mega epoxy
•    Cut out and replace all caulking
•    Skate crack and concrete repairs
•    Reseal entire park

Wadalba Skate Park

Timing:  works are underway with anticipated completion by 24 June (pending weather)
Impacts: The skate park will be temporarily closed for use with the perimeter of the skate park to be fenced off to allow for the works to be complete.
Works:  Rectifying safety issues within the bowl, resealing and repairing the edging to allow for smooth skating.

The Entrance Skate Park (Picnic Point)

Timing: Works underway with temporary closure in place.  Completion anticipated at the end of June, weather permitting.
Works: Resurfacing works and addressing any safety concerns. 
Impacts: The skate park will be temporarily closed for use with the perimeter of the skate park fenced off to allow for the works to be complete.

Banjo’s Skate Park (Terrigal)

Timing: Works anticipated to commence 17 June - 21 June.  These works are anticipated to take up to two days. 
Impacts: The skate park will be temporarily closed for use to allow for works to be complete with potential site fencing. 
Works: Paint, clean and reseal.

Kariong Skate Park

Timing: Works anticipated to commence 24 June - 28 June.  These works are anticipated to take up to two days. 
Impacts: The skate park will be temporarily closed for use to allow for works to be complete.
Works: Clean and reseal

Narara Skate Park

Timing:  works are underway with anticipated completion by 24 June (pending weather)
Impacts: The skate park will be temporarily closed for use to allow for works to be completed.

These maintenance works have been scheduled during the cooler months where we see these facilities being used less often, to help to minimise the impact to the community as much as possible. 

Council is funding these works as a part of the 2023-24 Operational budget.
