06/09/2023Various road treatments that cover the life cycle of the road are underway this week, with crews filling potholes (as the first level of maintenance to keep the road safe in the short term) through to longer term treatments such as heavy patching and road rehabilitation.
Some of the road works underway this week include:
- Heavy Patching at Blackwall (Allfield Road and Commonwealth Avenue), Budgewoi (Sunrise Avenue and Scenic Drive Access), Central Mangrove (George Downes Drive), Davistown (Pine Avenue, Dilgara Avenue, Davis Avenue, Grevillia Avenue and Emora Avenue) and Wyong (Byron Street).
- Pothole filling at Blue Bay, Charmhaven, Erina, Fountaindale, Kangy Angy, Lake Haven, Mount White, Terrigal, Tuggerah, Tumbi Umbi, Umina Beach and Wyong
- Road pavement works at Greengrove (Wisemans Ferry Road), Mangrove Creek (Mangrove Creek Road), Mount White (Ernbrook Road) and Somersby (Wirrinda Road and Bimbil Road)
- Road grading works at Jilliby (Dunks Lane, Davenport Lane and Beavans Lane) and various laneways at Umina Beach and Woy Woy
- Road rehabilitation works continue at Jilliby (Hue Hue Road)

Heavy patching is an asphalt patching technique which is used to treat localised large pavement failures in the road surface. Heavy patching involves cutting and excavating a section of the existing road pavement to a depth of 150-200mm and filling the cut-out area with new asphalt product.
