Get ready to play - Davistown’s new playspace is underway
Published On
12/11/2025The exciting new playspace at Illoura Reserve, Davistown is now being built and will provide a fresh new space to jump, swing, climb and have fun!
This playspace design has been led by what the community said they wanted to see from engagement activities in 2024 – where 189 residents participated in an online survey. You said you wanted a variety of play equipment including a flying fox, connecting paths and fencing, and we listened and included this in the new design. Aboriginal heritage and significance at the site were also considered in the planning and design.
The new design includes:
• Pirate themed playspace with multi-level play unit
• Flying fox (the space was tight but we managed to get a shorter run flying fox in)
• 4 bay swing including nest swing
• Two slides
• Climbing unit
• Interactive play wall and shopfront
• Accessible rocker
• Connecting pathways
• Shade structure
• Seating
• New landscaping
Playspaces are vital to community life and places where we gather, stay active, and connect—from young children to older residents.
To ensure everyone in our community can participate, this playspace has been designed with inclusivity and accessibility in mind. It features connecting concrete pathways and accessible play equipment, allowing people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the space.
This project reflects Council’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, high-quality playspaces that support the wellbeing of our community and region. This project forms part of our 20-year playspace management program - a strategic initiative focused on the long-term repair, replacement, and upgrade of play equipment and supporting infrastructure.
This project is funded by the NSW Government, with a contribution from the Three Villages Community Group.
Completion is due by end 2025 (weather permitting).
