Free dog training sessions encourage safe and harmonious living on the Coast

Our ‘Come and Try’ free dog training sessions were successfully piloted last year to support responsible pet ownership and promote harmonious community living and this year there’s more on offer.

There are 12 sessions taking place across the Coast in November 2025 that are designed to equip dog owners with essential skills such as loose leash walking, basic obedience, and recall, delivered in a positive and engaging format to help raise happy, well-behaved dogs.

Experienced trainers will guide participants through key commands and techniques and provides an opportunity for dogs and owners to socialise with others in a safe and supportive setting. There are sessions for both puppies and older dogs to develop basic manners and help strengthen the bond between dogs and their owners through practical tools and guidance.

All dogs must be on a lead, and vaccinations, flea and tick treatment must be up to date.

Sessions are free but bookings are essential as spots are limited.
As one of the regions with the largest dog populations in New South Wales, Central Coast Council is committed to developing a safe and positive environment for all residents, including pet owners and their dogs.

These sessions are part of Council’s Responsible Pet Ownership program that helps to improve public safety and community enjoyment when using open spaces through the management of animals not under effective control, and to also improve compliance of pet owners across the Central Coast region.
