25/02/2025Get ready to roll in Gwandalan! Construction of the brand-new Tunkuwallin Skatepark and Pump Track at 130 Kanangra Drive will begin in March 2025.
This $530,521 project, funded by Council’s capital expenditure budget, will replace the existing, end-of-life skatepark with a modern, dynamic recreation facility for the community.
The design is a direct result of extensive community consultation held in May and June 2024. We listened to your feedback and incorporated your ideas to create a space that truly reflects your vision. The new skatepark will feature a variety of obstacles and terrain, including street and transition areas, catering to all ages and skill levels. Notably, we've expanded the project to include a pump track, directly addressing the community's desire for a dedicated space for younger children. The Tunkuwallin Skatepark and Pump Track will be a fantastic addition to the area, providing a safe and exciting place for young people and families to connect and stay active. This project demonstrates our commitment to investing in community wellbeing and promoting healthy lifestyles across the Central Coast. By enhancing Tunkuwallin Oval, we're creating a larger and more versatile recreation space that benefits Gwandalan and the wider region.
The new skatepark will be built on the current unofficial parking area between the existing skatepark and Kanangra Drive. Once the new skatepark is open, the current skatepark site will be transformed into a new carpark. This will be a separate project, implemented in line with the Tunkuwallin Oval Precinct Plan.
Construction of the new skatepark is anticipated to be completed by June 2025, weather permitting.
