“Working at Council has provided me with an opportunity to make a difference in the community where I live. The freedom to collaborate with co-workers from various departments has given me a greater understanding and appreciation of the services Council provides and allowed me to be part of the creation of new opportunities and services that make the Central Coast a good place to be for those that call it home.”
Adam Kidd – Sports Activation and Development Officer
“Working for Central Coast Council in their Education and Care team has provided me with many opportunities to learn new skills and challenge myself. As a Certificate 3 educator, Diploma educator and now as an ECT, I was provided with opportunities to support my knowledge and understanding of child development, as well as working as part of a team, and was supported to seek out opportunities for further study and job progression. Selection into Central Coast Council’s Leadership Challenge program provided me with an amazing opportunity to further support the development of my skills in leadership and management, providing me with the confidence and motivation to seek out opportunities to take on leadership roles within my centre. Being part of this amazing program with Central Coast Council has opened up so many opportunities for my career, providing wonderful on-the-job experience, supporting my skill development, and providing motivation and confidence to apply for and now be in a permanent Centre Director role at one of Central Coast Council’s child care centres.”
Nicole Hoye – Centre Director, Education and Care
“During the uncertain times of the Covid 19 period during 2021 my workplace was closed to the general public. Luckily as a council employee I was redeployed to another area within the organisation.
Council identified my strengths and I was deployed to the library department as a delivery driver to the community. My roles was to deliver books to their residence, ordered online by library members.
During the 14 weeks of the shutdown to my normal workplace I was able to connect with members of the libraries and the broader community within our boundaries.
Spending time with our community was a refreshing opportunity that I will remember for some time.”
Graeme Carroll – Swim Coach
“I commenced my career with Council as an apprentice Fitter and Machinist. Over the past 37 years that I have worked at Council I have been provided the opportunity to apply my skills and undertake many different roles. Council also supported my education allowing me to gain a university qualification and a position of Unit Manager. If you apply yourself at Council you can have a fulfilling career.”
Brett Sherar – Unit Manager Open Space and Recreation
“The Council has been a great employer since the start of my journey with them. The support I have received from the Council in difficult times when I had to travel overseas for personal reasons during pandemic has been extraordinary. I am full of gratitude for the flexible work arrangements and the continuous help that Council has provided in the last 5 years. I have grown professionally in my role by learning continuously from much experienced mentors at Central Coast Council”
