07/07/2025Today, Federal Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid MP, Council Mayor Lawrie McKinna, Councillors Belinda Neal and Sharon Walsh, and Central Coast Football’s Alex Burgin gathered at Patrick Croke Oval in Kincumber to celebrate the completion of lighting and amenities upgrades.
The project was delivered by Central Coast Council and funded through a $210,000 grant from the Australian Government’s Investing in Our Communities Program and a $30,000 contribution from Central Coast Football. Works were completed on 30 March 2025, ahead of the current winter sports season.
Central Coast Council Director Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith said the upgrades enhance community participation and support year-round use of the oval.
“This project has transformed the amenities building, with an upgraded canteen, renovated bathrooms and a dedicated bin storage area that creates a safer, more comfortable and welcoming space for players, spectators and volunteers,” Ms Smith said.
“The addition of LED lighting on Field 2 means clubs and community groups can now make better use of all fields into the evening, especially during the winter season, encouraging more people to stay active and connected.”
The Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP said he was proud to be part of a Federal Government that supports local Councils in delivering better community facilities.
“Patrick Croke Oval is a great space, but it certainly needed some much-needed improvements,” Dr Reid said.
“These upgrades have been needed for some time, and I am pleased that they will allow the community to enjoy better facilities, better lighting and better amenities.”
Council Mayor Lawrie McKinna said the upgrades at Patrick Croke Oval are a great example of how investment in community infrastructure benefits residents and local groups alike.
“Patrick Croke Oval is a much-loved facility used by local soccer and cricket clubs, dog trainers and the wider community,” Mayor McKinna said
“The lighting and amenities improvements help to create a more vibrant, safe and active space for everyone to enjoy.”
