Time is running out to make that community idea happen with the first round of Central Coast Council’s 2018-19 Community Grants and Sponsorship Program.

With more than $1.7million available to help support and grow community-run local events, initiatives and projects, interested applicants are encouraged to get their applications in this week to ensure their project is considered this year. A second funding round will be held in early 2019.

Council’s Director Connected Communities, Julie Vaughan said there had been strong interest from community groups and event organisers who are planning activities and projects that will benefit the Coast.

“It’s important that applicants provide all the information requested in the application form, so that the funding panel has a clear picture of each project,” Ms Vaughan said.

Applications in the following categories close on Friday, 5 October:

• Community Events and Place Activation Grants
• Community Infrastructure Grants
• Community Development Grants
• Social and Creative Enterprises Grants
• Heritage Grants
• Sponsorship

Applications in another two categories may be submitted throughout the year:

• Community Support Grants
• Sponsorship Category 1
