Do you know where your next meal is coming from?
There are 20,300 households in housing stress on the Central Coast.
Most of them are renting and finding it hard to make ends meet.
There will be 6600 people homeless this year on the Central Coast.
A main cause is financial hardship and the increasing cost of housing.
This week marks National Homelessness Week (5-11 Aug) and to raises awareness of homelessness in Australia and the importance of social housing as a long-term solution. Without social and affordable housing, people are finding it hard to maintain the cost of living while paying to keep a roof over their heads and are at risk of homelessness.
To raise awareness about this issue Council worked with a number of community meal providers across the Central Coast to better understand and issue and hear their stories, and documented this with a photography installation.
Come and see the exhibition at Erina Fair, Tuggerah Westfield and Frank Balance Park, Wyong from 5 to 18 August 2024.
This project will showcase the breath of homelessness and hardship on the central coast by profiling the staff, volunteers and customers who provide community meals every week. It is an opportunity to thank hundreds of community servers and raise awareness about the issue.
