Highlights from Council November 2025 meeting

Following extensive debate and consideration regarding the very complex issue of homelessness and illegal campers at Picnic Point, The Entrance, Council resolved to advocate to the Minister for Housing and Homelessness requesting urgent support and immediate resources to support Council in delivering solutions to this significant and urgent community issue.
Former Gosford Chambers and CBD sites update
Council resolved to progress negotiations with the University of Newcastle to purchase ‘some or all’ of the Gosford CBD sites including Council’s former administration building. Council is pausing the invitation of market offers for four months while these negotiations progress and due diligence is undertaken. A further report will be provided to the December 2025 Council meeting.
Council Meetings
Council’s next Ordinary meeting is Tuesday 9 December 2025. Council also resolved to hold the first meeting for 2026 on Tuesday 27 January.
Community Funding allocations
Council resolved to provide over $220,000 to community initiatives through its Community Support Grant Program, the Chain Valley Colliery Community Funding Program and our Façade Improvement Program.
Former Gosford Library future update
The Library Review Committee will meet on 4 December 2025 to discuss information gathered by Council staff, including possible commercial or community use, local and/or state heritage protection consideration and progress of EOIs for the building. A full report will be provided to Council in March 2026.
NSW Government Draft Central Coast Conservation Plan
Council resolved to provide an amended submission to the NSW state government’s draft Central Coast Strategic Conservation Plan. This resolution followed extensive debate among Councillors, who considered the key components and impact of the state government’s plan for the Central Coast region.
Councillors reiterated their disappointment that the state government did not allow further extension for public submissions, despite a request from Council that an extension be given until 31 January 2026. The state government only extended the submission date by three days. Both Council and the community advocated that more time was needed.
