Gosford Flood Study Community Consultation

Gosford Overland Flood Study Review

Central Coast Council’s flood study for Gosford and surrounding suburbs is now open for community submissions until Monday 8 December 2025.

The flood study is part of Council’s commitment to keep the community safe and well-informed about flooding by regularly updating Flood Studies and Floodplain Risk Management Plans for all catchments across the Central Coast.

Flood studies are essential for understanding how floods behave in our local area. Regular updated studies ensure future flood management plans reflect the latest data, changing land use, climate trends, and community experiences. This helps Council develop practical, effective solutions to protect lives, property and the environment.

Council Mayor, Lawrie McKinna said Council is taking proactive steps to manage flood risk and protect the community.

“With significant development and population growth in the Gosford area and surrounding suburbs since 2013, it’s important that our flood modelling and mapping remain current,” Mayor McKinna said.

“Community consultation is a key part of the process and we encourage residents to have their say before submissions close on 8 December 2025.”

Council Director, Environment and Planning, Luke Nicholls said the study area includes Gosford, West Gosford, Point Frederick and East Gosford.

Community feedback is essential to our future flood planning for Gosford,” Mr Nicholls said.

“With Gosford continuing to grow at a rapid rate, community input will help us build a clearer, more accurate picture of local flood risks so we can manage flooding when it happens.”

The Gosford Overland Flood Study Review is supported by the NSW Government’s Floodplain Management Program.
