We are so fortunate on the Central Coast to be surrounded by diverse ecosystems bursting with an amazing array of biodiversity from the hinterland to the coast. For this week's #TuesdayTails, we are celebrating the upcoming Biodiversity Month and have a huge program of nature activities for the whole family!

Our biggest event is a #BioBlitz for National Threatened Species Day (NTSD) which will be held on Saturday September 9 at Winney Bay. We will be exploring different habitats and identifying all kinds of feathered, spiky, slimy and flowering species with local experts. Activities will include Whale Watching, Rockpool Ramble, Fungi Foray, Bird Watching, Eucalyptus ID, Native Bees & Bugs, Spotlighting walks and more!   For a full list of NTSD activities, see our event listing

Here are some other exciting events for Biodiversity month:

  • Central Coast Calm is a series of mindful and calming illustrations inspired by our natural environment and well-being. The illustrations will be on exhibition at Erina’s Arcade Gallery throughout September. Artist Tanya Hoolihan is a natural history illustrator specialising in scientific, wildlife and botanical illustration.
  • National Threatened Species Day 7 September. Join the nation-wide #threatenedspeciesbakeoff
  • Try your luck platypus spotting on our Platy-project paddle Friday 8 September, Wyong River. Book here
