The importance of planting in this area

Porters Creek Wetland plays a key role in the water quality of Tuggerah Lakes by filtering stormwater runoff before it enters the estuary.

Work in restoring the habitat and food source for more than 100 native fauna species, some of which are classified as threatened, will improve growing conditions, increase water filtration, reduce weed infestations, and improve other ecosystems within the wetland.
