About the presenter

Dr Kate Forsyth is an award-winning poet, novelist, journalist and storyteller. Her historical novels for adults include Psykhe, The Crimson Thread, Beauty in Thorns and Bitter Greens, which won the 2015 ALA Award for Best Historical Fiction. Non-fiction books include Searching for Charlotte: The Fascinating Story of Australia’s First Children’s Author, longlisted for the 2021 Indie Book Awards​, and The Rebirth of Rapunzel which won the 2017 William Atheling Jr Award for Criticism. Her children’s books include Vasilisa the Wise and Other Tales of Brave Young Women which won a silver medal in the 2018 US Readers Favorite awards and The Impossible Quest series, shortlisted for a KOALA Award. She has also written for many newspapers and magazines, including Womankind, Good Weekend, Spectrum, The Conversation, Griffith Review, Text Magazine, Meanjin, The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, and Good Reading.

Kate has a BA in literature, a MA in creative writing, a Doctorate of Creative Arts, and is also an accredited master storyteller with the Australian Guild of Storytellers. She runs literary and creative writing retreats in Australia, Greece and the United Kingdom.
