Shared pathways and footpaths
If you’re looking for a new place to explore and keep fit here are some of the Coast’s most popular and scenic shared pathways.
We’re continuing to expand and improve our network of footpaths and shared pathways that support safer, more connected and accessible communities.
Footpaths are designed for pedestrians only, providing a safe space for walking.
While shared pathways are built for both pedestrians and cyclists to use together – with cyclists required to keep left and give way to pedestrians.
Council continues to invest in priority projects that improve and expand this network, making it safer and more accessible for everyone in the community.

Council manages and maintains 893 kms of shared pathways across the Central Coast where you can walk, run, cycle or skate!

Central Coast footpathsFootpaths may be constructed as part of road upgrades, or as identified in the PAMP and Bike Plan as part of the missing link program, which involves connecting sections of the footpath network to complete loops.Requests for infrastructure, including footpaths, are listed for consideration of funding through Council’s Capital Works Program.Council also has a footpath renewal program to replace existing footpaths in poor condition.
