The Third Space
A new artist residency initiative on the Central Coast

About the initiative
The Third Space is an artist in residency program designed to foster artistic experimentation and cultural storytelling. It provides early career and emerging culturally and linguistically and First Nations and Torres Strait Islander visual artists with space, time and support to develop new work, engage with the community, and contribute to the region’s creative ecology.
Each residency runs for up to three weeks and focuses on intensive concept development, culminating in a public presentation, alongside a community engagement outcome. The program strengthens community connectedness by using the arts as a bridge for shared understanding, while also helping artists build their professional practice.
What does the residency offer?
The Third Space offers artists a dedicated creative space, professional support and opportunities to connect with the local community, alongside financial support. The residency is designed to support emerging practice through guided development, public engagement opportunities and inclusion in Council marketing and promotion.
