Creative Art Central 2024-25

Council's Creative Art Central annual program is designed to encourage local creative practitioners on the Central Coast to produce a new work in collaboration with the local community.
Creative Art Central is a merit-based commissioning program that provides funding to selected artists, chosen by an independent panel of industry experts.

Five local creatives from a range of disciplines were awarded in Central Coast Council’s 2024-25 Creative Art Central multi-year commissioning art program.
The 2024-25 round of commissions offer collaborative opportunities for the community to contribute to artworks that reflect the Central Coast’s diverse stories - including those of First Nations people, people living with a disability, and culturally and linguistically diverse residents.
The successful recipients of the Creative Art Central 2024-25 round are:
Astrid Serpentine – Blood the Musical
Script development for a new theatre production sharing stories connected to rites of passage from girls and women living on the Central Coast.

The Bouddi Society – Mentorship for Young Emerging Artists
The selection and professional development of local 5 First Nations Emerging Artists under the guidance of a cultural leader to deliver new works resulting in a public presentation.

Jaymie Maley – The Angophora Project
A co-created and multidisciplinary project working with local bushcare volunteers, people with disabilities and the First Nations community in producing interpretative works, resulting in a public exhibition connected to the native Angophora’s on the Central Coast.

Michael Scarrott – Illuminating our Stories (First Nations Category)
A new work produced and co-created with First Nations children and young people in a photoluminescent format sharing stories connected to community and culture, resulting in a public presentation.

Victoria Lobregat – Bayanihan
A project engaging with Filipino young people and community on the Central Coast, sharing multidisciplinary visual stories from the perspective of those engaged, celebrating and exploring the local Filipino experience, resulting in a co-created art exhibition.

This round of recipients will embark on the development and delivery of multidisciplinary projects across the visual, performance and installation art resulting in community-centric and co-designed new works for public viewing by June 2027.
