Garage Sale Trail is Australia’s biggest festival of pre-loved stuff and the perfect opportunity to take part in the circular economy, earn some cash and pocket a bargain.

The results from the national 2023 Garage Sale Trail event held in November are now in!

Central Coast residents hosted 505 garage sales, attracting nearly 15,000 enthusiastic participants. This resulted in the Central Coast local government area achieving 2nd place nationally and 1st place in NSW in terms of the number individual garage sales.

Across the Central Coast a whopping 64,000kgs of preloved items have been estimated to have been diverted from to landfill. The most popular items being homewares, books, magazines, DVDs, vinyls, clothing and textiles, furniture, plants, gardening tools and so much more.

This is a remarkable increase from last year's event where we managed to rescue 27,000kgs of preloved items!

The results speak volumes about the passion of our residents to repurpose preloved items, the proud 'new' owners of 'old' stuff, our incredible community and our commitment to our environment!

The Central Coast Council team is already buzzing with excitement for the 2024 event.

Central Coast Council's participation in the Garage Sale Trail weekends is jointly funded by Council and the NSW Environment Protection Authority Waste Less, Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy. The national event is powered by Councils around Australia and helps to prevent valuable resources going to landfill by encouraging reuse and recycling practices.
