Review Committee - Current Library Building
The initial purpose of the review committee was for Councillors, with support from relevant Council Officers, to conduct a review into the proposed demolition of the Gosford Library Building slated to occur when the new Gosford Regional Library opened in mid-2025 and that during this review any pre-demolition planning, site preparation or actual demolition be halted. The review covered:
- Heritage value
- Community opportunities for its' ongoing use
- Environmental benefits of its' preservation.
The review included consultation with The National Trust of Australia, the Australian Institute of Architects and Central Coast historian Merrill Jackson OAM and considered public feedback.
The Council Review Committee consists of 6 (six) Councillors:
- Councillor Trent McWaide (Chair)
- Councillor Kyla Daniels
- Councillors Rachel Stanton
- Councillor Margot Castles
- Councillor Jane Smith
- Councillor Kyle MacGregor
Following the resolution of Council on 26 August 2025 to retain the former Gosford Library Building, the Review Committee will continue, with the addition of any other interested Councillors and support from relevant Council Officers, to consider the future use of the former Gosford Library Building. The committee will pursue a commercial or community use for the building, revise the Kibble Park Place Plan, while determining the feasibility and funding sources to repurpose the building.
The meetings will be held at Central Coast Council Chambers - 2 Hely St, Wyong NSW 2259. The committee meetings will be livestreamed and members of the public can view the livestream of the meetings by visiting the Central Coast Council Live Stream on YouTube.
