The Sports Hub has launched providing a new comprehensive online directory which showcases the Central Coast’s variety of sport and active recreation opportunities and makes it easy for the community to find something that suits their needs, abilities and interests.

This website is part of Activate Central Coast is an exciting new initiative developed in partnership between Council, the Office of Sport and Sport Central Coast to encourage our community to participate in sport and active recreation whilst also supporting local sport and active recreation businesses, clubs and associations.

Council Director of Community and Recreation Services, Julie Vaughan said this initiative will provide a range of benefits for the Central Coast community.

“It is well established that an active lifestyle contributes greatly to people’s wellbeing.  Besides the physical health benefits, participating in sports and active recreation provides an opportunity for social connections to creating a sense of belonging.

“Sports Hub encourages active lifestyles and I encourage our community to jump online and discover a new way to keep fit.”

There are already over 100 local sports and active recreation providers participating which cover a wide range of activities including; Aerobics, Athletics, Aussie Rules, Archery, Basketball, Circus, Cricket, Croquet, Cycling, Dancing, Dragon Boating, Floorball,  Football, Golf, Lawn Bowls, Martial Arts, Netball, Orienteering, Oztag, Running, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Shooting, Softball, Surfing, Swimming, Tennis, Walking, Water Polo, Yoga and more.

The Sports Hub is a user-friendly site allowing users to quickly search for activities by location and interests and filter by categories such as age group suitability, activities that are accessible and inclusive and providers that accept Active Kids Vouchers.

Sport Central Coast Chairman, Simon Smyth said Sports Hub website is a one-stop shop for sport and active recreation on the Central Coast.

“We’ve got so many providers, associations, leagues and clubs who have jumped on board and if you’re looking for a sport or active recreation activity on the Central Coast – Sports Hub is the place to go,” Mr Smyth said

“We want more people to be active here on the Central Coast and sport and active recreation is a wonderful way to go out and meet people and experience those physical benefits that sport brings, meet new friends and get out there and enjoy the beautiful natural assets we’ve got here on the central coast as well as the wonderful facilities that council put on for us.”

As part of the Activate Central Coast initiative, local sport and active recreation providers will collaborate with Activate Central Coasts’ partners to promote Come and Try Activities and exciting programs and events for the community throughout the year.   These will be announced on Sports Hub as details are confirmed.

Office of Sport Project Officer, Matt Sawyer said The Sports Hub is a gamechanger for the Central Coast.

“We’ve never had a resource like this before on the Central Coast. To be able to go to one place to get all the information you need to get involved in sport and active recreation is a fantastic initiative and huge positive for the Central Coast community. The Sports Hub is a great example of what can be achieved by working in partnership,” Mr Sawyer said.
