Public toilets
Where to find local public toilets and accessible adult change facilities.
Council‑managed public toilets
Public toilets are vital community infrastructure that support the health and wellbeing of Central Coast residents, workers and visitors. We maintain more than 210 public toilet facilities across the region, located in parks, reserves, town centres, sports facilities and other public spaces. Central Coast Council‑managed public toilets, including accessible restrooms, are generally open during daylight hours and locked from sunset to sunrise.

Maintaining clean and safe public toilets
We clean public toilets on a regular schedule to maintain cleanliness and hygiene. Depending on location and usage, facilities are usually cleaned daily or every second day. While regular cleaning and inspections occur, the size of Council’s public toilet network means we rely on the community to report urgent issues.
Please report urgent issues, such as:
- blood, faeces, urine
- syringes or broken glass
- excess rubbish or vandalism
- broken doors or lights
- blocked sewer or water leaks
- any slip, trip, or other safety hazards.
Graffiti and vandalism
Unfortunately, vandalism remains a serious issue. Ongoing incidents such as fire damage, broken windows, graffiti and damage to plumbing can disrupt access to essential amenities and result in costly repairs.
If you witness vandalism or suspicious behaviour, please report it to the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.
Report an issue
You can report safety issues or damage to public toilets, sports facilities and community recreation spaces via our Online Customer Service Centre or call Council’s Customer Service on (02) 4306 7900.

Master Locksmith Access Key (MLAK)
A Master Locksmith Access Key allows people with disability to access public toilets after hours. The MLAK fits specially designed locks, providing 24-hour access to public amenities. Many accessible public toilets Australia-wide can be opened using the MLAK.
To be eligible to purchase a key, you must provide:
- a letter of authority about your disability from your doctor or disability organisation or
- a copy of your disability card or parking permit.
Once you have this authority, the key can be purchased via Master Locksmiths or from local locksmiths who are members of the Master Locksmiths Association. For more information, contact your local locksmith, the Master Locksmith's Association on 1800 810 698 or Spinal Cord Injuries Australia on 1800 819 775.
Accessible adult change facilities
Adult change facilities are accessed with a MLAK. These facilities enable people with high support needs – and their families or carers – to enjoy longer visits without having to leave and get changed. These purpose-built facilities enable an adult with complex needs to change comfortably and with dignity, increasing their ability to fully participate in community life.
Council has installed 3 accessible adult change facilities, also known as changing places, at:
- Central Coast Visitor Information Centre (The Entrance)
- Sun Valley Playspace (Green Point)
- Gosford Olympic Pool (for paying patrons only)
Public Toilet Strategy 2026
Council has adopted a new Public Toilet Strategy which sets out the long-term plan for managing our public toilets across the Central Coast, ensuring we have a network of contemporary, accessible and sustainable public toilets that meet the needs of our community.
