Did you know that 7 in 10 cars are stolen with their own keys?

It’s called sneak theft, offenders sneak into homes through unlocked doors and windows to take the keys.

Between March 2019 and 2020 the Central Coast had the second highest rate of reported car theft in NSW.

To address the issue Central Coast Council have partnered with the National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council (NMVTRC) to highlight simple steps motorists can take to prevent sneak vehicle theft.

The simplest and most effective steps you can take to stop sneak theft are:

  • POP all keys out of sight
  • LOCK all doors and windows and ensure everyone in the home is doing the same 

Sneak thieves actively avoid confrontations with home owners so POP and LOCK to STOP sneak theft.
