Shirley ‘breezed in’ as Community Champion
Our newest community champion is Shirley ‘Breezy’ Sattler, an extraordinary person who has dedicated more than 40 years of service to Scouts and the Central Coast community.
She’s been nominated not only for her long-term service, but also for her kindness, compassion and the extra care she takes to make everyone feel included and valued.
Shirley started with the 1st Terrigal Scout Group and became a Scout leader in 1985.
During her incredible decades of service, Shirley has taken on many roles including Scout, Cub and Joey leader, District Scout Leader, Group Leader and Personal Leader Adviser. She’s also acted as mentor to many young people and leaders.
Now, as Group Leader of 1st Terrigal Scout Group, Shirely also runs the Joey unit and coordinates the hall hire.
Shirely has attended an astonishing 12 jamborees, 40 corroborees, 30 state rallies and over 50 major events. She’s happy to participate in a range of roles, including welfare or leadership.
For her unwavering commitment to scouting, Shirley has recently been awarded the Silver Kangaroo, the highest leadership award.
Shirely’s dedication and determination to contribute to improving the lives of others make her a very worthy Community Champion, and she has our gratitude.
