Get involved in Youth Week
Council is committed to empowering young people to get involved in their community and be active in creating their future.
People have told us that they want a range of leadership, recreation and training opportunities for young people and teenagers, and from this feedback we’ve identified ‘supporting youth programs and activities’ as a Councillor Priority.
And we’re delivering on this through our actions.
We’re excited about our annual Youth for Youth Leadership initiative that brings together young people, who are passionate about their community, to help shape Council initiatives, plan events and develop leadership skills.
We’re supporting programs like Creative Engineers, Launch Labs and our maker space at Gosford Regional Library to support skills development, encourage innovation and offer creative opportunities.
We’re linking young people with helpful community services through school holiday activities, Youth Day Out and our very popular Skate Park Series.
And we’re proud to acknowledge the achievements of outstanding local young people, and the significant positive impact they make in our community, through our annual Youth Week Awards.
We’re now encouraging young people to get involved in Youth Week.
This year Youth Week will be celebrated from 16 to 26 April, and the theme is Dream. Dare. Do.
We’ve worked in partnership with the NSW Government, community groups, our libraries and other youth-focused organisations to create an exciting program of activities that align with this theme and encourage exploration and adventure.
Young people are invited to join a songwriting workshop, learn how to sketch Magna characters, become a citizen scientist on a water bug hunt, get technical with Lego, be discovered in our open mic or battle of the bands competitions, learn circus skills and so much more!
A full program of events can be found on Council’s website. If you’re a young person living on the Central Coast, I encourage you to dream big, dare boldly and enjoy everything Youth Week has to offer.
