This May, we mark an important milestone as The Art House in Wyong celebrates its 10year anniversary.

Since opening in 2016 with the Wyong Musical Theatre Company’s production of Oliver, The Art House has grown into one of the Central Coast’s leading cultural venues. It has earned national recognition for its worldclass performances and programs, including being named the 2022 National Performing Arts Centre of the Year.

Over the past decade, The Art House has welcomed hundreds of thousands of people through its doors to enjoy theatre, live music, comedy, kids shows, and a range of other creative experiences. Through its charity status and Magic of Theatre Donation Program, more than 760 seats have been funded to give local school children the chance to enjoy a live performance.

The Art House has played a major role in supporting local talent with development programs and opportunities for emerging artists. By the end of 2025, more than 35 Central Coast community dance schools had staged their annual concerts at the venue, and over 42 local creative projects had been supported through The Art House Creative Program. By fostering inclusive and accessible participation, The Art House has become a welcoming home for performers, creators and anyone who enjoys outstanding performing arts.

The venue has also brought major national and internationally renowned talent to our region, hosting artists such as Human Nature, Tommy Little, Anh Do, Amy Shark, Kate Ceberano, Macy Gray, Sydney Dance Company, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Troy Cassar‑Daly. And most recently, The Art House announced that Opera Australia will present Don Giovanni this August.

That’s why Council is renewing its $1.236 million investment in The Art House. This funding will ensure that our community, from school groups to seasoned performers, can continue to enjoy a state‑of‑the‑art performance space that inspires connection and creativity.

I want to thank all those who have supported, attended or performed at this venue over the past decade. On a personal note, I have truly enjoyed presiding over the Citizenship Ceremonies held at The Art House since being elected Mayor, and it has been a privilege to share such meaningful moments in this special place.

I encourage everyone to visit their website to learn more about upcoming events and membership.

Mayor Lawrie McKinna
