Remediation works at Gosford City Car Park to repair, maintain and extend the lifespan of this well used facility are complete.
Gosford City Car Park (located at 1 Baker Street) is multilevel facility with 650 car spaces that provides both permanent and casual parking for city centre workers, residents, and visitors to Gosford. This infrastructure is over 40 years old and was showing signs of its age!
To increase the longevity of this asset we have completed the following:
- Roof repairs
- Signage replacement
- Line marking
- Guard rail remediation
- Painting of columns and fire stairs.
Smart Technology upgrade on the way
Now that the remediation works are complete we will commence a Smart Technology and amenities upgrade to improve user comfort and safety and deliver improved efficiency, enhance security and an improved user experience for all users.
The smart technology upgrade is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks and will be completed during the 2025/26 financial year. paving the way for a safer, smarter and more accessible city centre. While the amenities upgrade is scheduled to commence later in 2026.
The upgrades will introduce modern, user-friendly features including:
- Removal of entry barriers for smoother access
- Ticketless parking via Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)
- Camera-based monitoring for enhanced safety
- Upgraded restrooms
- Enhanced accessibility features
Trial of extended operational hours coming soon
Leveraging the new technology, we will trial extended operating hours for six months, to support local businesses and Gosford’s night-time economy. The trial period will be announced shortly after the technology upgrade has been completed. Proposed trial extended operating hours will be:
- Friday and Saturdays: extended closing time until 10pm
- Sundays and Public Holidays: 8am-9pm
- Monday–Thursday: existing hours remain unchanged
Casual parking fees will apply during the trial including on weekends and public holidays, with full details to be confirmed before the trial begins.

Impacts:
The car park will remain operational, throughout the work period with traffic management in place to allow access to open levels during the works. There may be minimal disruptions to car park operations however, the majority of works will be completed outside of the car park operating hours.
Looking for a park?
During peak times of use, such as when significant events are being held at Gosford, advice would be to allow additional travel time in case the car park becomes full and parking needs to be sought elsewhere or consider use of public transport.
- There are several car parks located in and around Gosford, along with metered and unmetered street parking options. You can find a list of Council-operated car parks on our parking webpage.
- Public transport can be a convenient option. Gosford Station is centrally located and offers train and bus connections to many destinations. Consider using Transport for NSW’s Trip Planner to find the best route for your needs.

While we’re excited to launch this trial, it’s important to note that we are seeking to assess the usage data, community feedback, security, safety and revenue impacts.
